Day 3 - Earthdog - Since Vanilla is busy, I'm taking over so we can get this class finished up I would first like to add to all those difficult dogs out there who seem to not be able to catch the frisbee. You can try going to a seen with no distractions such as the playpen, minimizing the screen as small as it will go, then tossing the frisbee in there. For some dogs this helps them get a lot more chances to catch it and seems to work out. For others, it doesn't always work. ^Not exactly a homework assignment, just something else you can try. Now for today's assignment! In earthdog, the dog is required to find the whole, manuver through a tunnel, and bark at it's prey. In petz, we are limited to what we can do so I'm going to go off what I do in the contests (since this class is based off those anyways). First thing, make sure dogs are fed and ready to go with lots of energy! Then take your pet to a non-distracting play scene and bring out a hoop or jump. Hold it still and note down their reaction to it. If they paw at it or knock it out of your hand, just ignore this and pick it back up again. Some dogs take a while to stop this behavior, others get over it quickly. Soon your dog should jump through the hoop. LOTS of praise! Petting, treats, even play time with a toy. Then try again. Do this a few times until your dog doesn't hesitate to jump through the hoop. I want to see pics of your dog's reaction to the hoop, jumping through the hoop, rewards..etc.. Next on today's list is introducing your dog to the Auto Rolling ball. Take out the ball and let your dog at it. I want pictures and notes of your dog playing with the Auto Ball. Once your dog gets the hang of it, bring out another ball or two Have fun with this!

I'll enter Horizon in this (: Dogs name- Horizon Breed: Great Dane Game D3/4/5(training might be slightly different for different versions): 4 Age: Adult Day 1 - FrisbeeHorizon has been a bit grumpy today, so I made sure he was comletely full before attemping to do frisbee with him. He picked out the biggest dog food bowl I own and wolfed it down, looking very angry as he did so. Horizon has all read met the yellow frisbee so knew exactly what to do. Unfourtunantly, the prevoius expericance did not make Horiany better at catching the disc. He missed the first one, but only by an inch or so. He missed #2 and #3 by a long shot. He missed the 4th throw too. And then... he caught #5! Its at an awful angle and he's only a fraction of the ground, but he caught it. I took him back inside and gave him a quick brush, then I offered him water but he declined as usaul. I left him a lone in the family room with his favourite pillow an his two favourite toyz. I returned to find him asleep on the pillow with the Paw Ball in his mouth <3

Thanks for signing up Eyeki! It doesn't matter if your dog isn't good at it, it's the time spent with them that counts

Very good guys! Here's the Rest-
Day 4 - Herding -
For today's lesson, you'll need some type of livestock; Cattle, Sheep, Ducks, Goats..etc.. You can have 1-5 out with your pet. Simply let them all out together and take pics as you go along. See what kind of natural herding ability your dog has. Please post all pics, and be sure to reward your dog well afterwords! Be sure to offer water and food as well, herding can work up an appetite.
Day 5 - Herding Part 2 -
Today, bring out one of the livestock you used yesterday. Try getting your dog to go out and around them as though they are rounding them up. Get a pic! Next, bring out a post of some sort and try to get your dog to 'herd' the sheep around the post. Get a pic! Next, make a pen or use a downloaded pen and try to get your dog to get the sheep in the pen. Get pics!
To do this, Call your dog, then try moving your dog around by following your hand. The livestock will try following too, you want to get your dog behind the livestock rather than in front of them so it 'looks' like they are herding.
Day 6 - Schutzhund -
Today we're just going to get your dogs used to the equipment used in schutzhund. So bring out the Tug toy and play a few games of Tug with your pet. You can also bring out the basket and let them get acustomed to it as they will eventually learn to 'guard' the basket. If you'd like, have them wear a muzzle. Try out some tracking harnesses on them so they get used to the feel of them. Supernova's pack is great for this. Take out the wooden jump (or another jump if you don't have one) and get your dog used to jumping over it. Take out the blind (supernova's) and get your dog to run around it. Get some dumbells out and get your dog playing with them. Getting your dog used to all of this stuff is the key to starting training. Be sure to get a lot of pics! Reward your dog lots, and offer plenty of food and water!
That's all for this class! I left out Obedience since we already have Obedience classes going.
