Apollo and Friends
When I first got Petz, I couldn't decide what dog to start with. So I streamed the Adoption Center for my friend (who's never played Petz before) and asked her which of the dogz breeds I should adopt.
I knew I wanted dogz because I like them far more than catz. But the first breed she chose was "Honey bear". I took it out to show her what it was and then asked her to actually pick a dog breed for me to adopt. I was going to put the honey bear back, but I was lazy and kept him there.
My friend chose the Great Dane. She thought it was adorable so I said I'd adopt him if she gave me a name for him. As I waited for her to think, I mindlessly played with both of them. I noticed the honey bear played fetch, like, immediately. I was surprised as I'd never seen a cat behave like that before (not that I have a lot of experience with catz). This little big guy was so happy to just be out and playing with me.
Brutus the Great Dane
At this point, I was not going to just adopt the Great Dane alone. I asked her to come up with a name for the cat the plays fetch.
And that is the story of how I adopted Apollo the Honey Bear (a breed I didn't even know existed in the game).
Apollo the Honey Bear
At first, I was just impressed by how large he was! That's Brutus that I adopted the same day!
Then I quickly fell in love with his charm and personality. I think I even prefer playing with him over Brutus (which I thought the opposite was going to be true).
Apollo and Brutus are best friends and I have so many silly photos of them <3
I think Brutus is FINALLY getting bigger than Apollo.
At the present, Apollo is my go to pet for competitions. He's so fun to play alone with and I love it.
His competition name is Thor's Disc du Soleil 'Apollo'
It's french for disc of the sun, but also a play with the words Cirque du Soleil. He was named after Apollo the sun god and this show name goes nicely with the myth about Apollo accidentally killing his good friend with a frisbee.
Flyball Trials
I've entered him into my first serious competition (its serious because it had a timer).
We practiced for several days before I decided to record the time, but I made several rookie mistakes and our time was much worse than when we practiced :c I'm going to have to enter him in again.
In this recording, I was nervous and practiced with Apollo for nearly 30 minutes before recording this trial. I forgot to give him a break or food or water before the trial. Immediately when I pressed the time button, he fell asleep. Watching at least the first minute or two is hilariously embarrassing for me as a trainer.
I took a break and gave him plenty of water and playtime with friends.
Then we tried again.
In this recording, I did another rookie mistake. I pet him while the trial was happening. I was just too used to training and instinctively pet him. He then froze still.
We got an okay time but again I did better in practice. Sometimes when you're recording and timing, things don't work the way you practice
