First day with Maple:
The Family RoomI first took her out to explore the family room. (as I do with all my petz) She really didn't find it at all interesting. I figured that out once I noticed her prancing and running around with no intentions of smelling the carpet. She was more focused on me than her surroundings so I just pet her.
The Toy ClosetSince she wasn't really having fun in the family room I took her to the toy closet. I introduced her to three toys. The chew toy; Once Maple saw it in my hand she immediately pounced on it (yes pounce!) and yanked it out of my hand. She then dropped it but she kept a close eye on it (maybe she was worried that I would take it, lol) She picked it up again and licked it. The auto-rolling ball; Once I managed to distant Maple from the chew toy I brought out the auto-rolling ball. She found it very interesting. She caught it on her first try and ran around with it in her mouth. I loved watching her, it was such a joy. She actually tripped once.
The duo-ball; I let Maple play with the auto-rolling ball for some time until I brought out the duo ball. She had it in her mouth when she noticed the new ball. She tried to catch the duo ball still holding the other ball and found out she couldn't. Poor girl.
So she dropped the auto-rolling ball and bowed to the duo.
The KitchenAfter playing with toys, I thought it was time for a meal. She was hungry because I saw her jump to the food bowl right away and gobbled up at least half the food that was contained in the dish. Once she had finished eating, she ran around the kitchen before rewarding her with a bone treat (tricks will start on day 2
) and then I stroked her gently.
The BackyardAs soon as I brought Maple to the backyard, she started running and did a somersault in the air. It was so cute. I then brought out a frisbee in hopes of her catching it but my expectaions were too high. Maybe I'll work on her frisbee skills tomorrow or the day after. She just stared at the frisbee, pounced on it and sniffed it. Then she did
some more running around (I think that's her favourite past time) and jumped on the fence. After a while she jumped back down and as you can see in the last four pics she has landed on her front paws and enjoying a good massage.
Meeting AshtonAfter a while with just Maple and I, I thought it was time for her to meet Ashton and Contrast. First was Ashton. When I brought him out he noticed Maple and went to site in front of her. Maple invited him to play and they looked happy. After some walking, sniffing and playing, Maple started licking Ashton. Then as I was snapping pics the most cutest thing occurred. Both Ashton and Maple did a trick at the same time! Ashton performed a handstand while Maple stood on her hind legs. It was adorable. I think these two really enjoyed eachother's company.
Meeting ContrastIt was interesting watching Maple and Contrast together. I couldn't figure it out if Maple liked Contrast or didn't. She kept on making evil glares at Contrast and I wasn't even petting her! Other times they would look as if they were friends and one time Contrast actually started licking Maple. I don't know, these two really are something.
Dressup & NaptimeAfter a long day, I took Maple to the clothes closet to fit her into some pretty clothes. I thought she looked remarkably well with some yelllow pants and bracelets. She loved them. I also tried a white rose on her and she looked really cute. Once she was dressed, I knew she was tired so I laid out a pillow and placed Maple on it. She yawned once then laid down. After a few seconds she was sound asleep. Zzzz...
Today I found out a lot about Maple:
-She is fearless of new things
-She loves the chew toy & auto-rolling ball
-She loves to run
-She likes Ashton
-She gets angry at Contrast for no apparent reason
-Maple is a happy puppy!
