Awesome job Destiny! I Love the picture where it looks like she's eating the treats out of the box! Check back tomorrow for tomorrow's assignment!

Lesson #2- Down
Homework Assignment #2 is to teach your dog to down. This should be the alert down, not the relaxed down. Get a different treat than you used yesterday to teach sit. You don't want your dog getting confused! Wiggle it below your dog and wait for it to do a down. Drop the treat and pet your dog! Repeat this 2-3 times to be sure they understand what you want. Now play a fun game with your pet that they like and note down what treat you used to teach them down! Good luck! You have all of today to get your homework in!

I'm sorry to say this but I think Indi may have to drop out of this class. Here's why: Well everything was going fine yesterday with sit. It did take me quite some time but eventually she did it. However, today's assignment didn't go well at all. First she started sniffing the ground and acting a little shy towards the treat box, lol. Then I started wiggling the treat below her and she would not lie down. Believe me, I spent almost a half hour trying to get her to lie down but she would NOT! She kept jumping at the treat while in my hand and trying to snatch it. After a while she got angry at me because of course, I wasn't giving her the treat! I never had a dog before that wouldn't obey basic commands. I seriously think Indi loves agility and hates obedience, haha. Sorry about this, I didn't think it was so hard to train Indi. :/ She has TONS of energy but doesn't obey commands. I'll keep trying but I don't know if it'll work. Anyway, I'll start training Radar now. :]

Aww lol Indi, such cute pictures. You might check to see if she was hungry, sometimes if they are really hungry that's all they will do. Since it looks like you have her in p5, p5 has a glitch in it where sometimes they won't do a certain trick . I have a boxer I can't for the life of me teach the down. So I'd say continue on with the class, as the rest will help her in other aspects of her training. It's too bad p5 has training glitches, p4 sometimes has weird training things too. I've also noticed in p3 if I breed or adopt a puppy out of the ac, training goes perfectly, but if someone sends me a dog they will do the screen slide over and over again for a long time before they finally try something useful.

Thanks Amy. Indi's in my P4 game. After feeding her (I made sure she was full) I tried training her in different playscenes with different treats but still all she does is jump and try to snatch the treat lol. :/ Oh and I even tried to wiggle the treat above and to the right and left but nothing. ]: The only tricks she did was sit and roll right once, but now she doesn't even do that. Poor Indi, I hope nothing's wrong with her.

Aww poor girl. I'm sure it's just a p4 glitch, as when I had Duke, he knew a LOT of tricks and such and when I put him into p4 that's all he would do too. The rest of the class doesn't depend on treats, so I'm sure she will do fine in the rest of it .

Since I'll be gone. I am going to post the rest of the assignments up. You can do 1 a day, or if you'll be gone over the weekend feel free to get them all in or catch up on monday . Sorry they say puppy, I'm too lazy right now to edit it all lol. Lesson #3- Come Homework Assignment #3 is to teach your dog to come to you when you call! Your dog should learn to come to you no matter what! For this, get some treats handy, but leave them in the box. Now move your hand away from your puppy and whistle. Your puppy should come running over to you. If he or she does, give lots of petting and a treat! You can also use a toy and play a short game with them if you want. Continue moving your hand away from your puppy and calling them. Keep making it harder by adding in distractions like other toys, moving toys, and calling them while they are chasing a toy. Once they are able to come and not having those distractions bothering them, bring out another pet and let them play for a moment. Now try calling your pet while they are playing. Be sure to give lots of praise and rewards when they do! You should now have a puppy that will come no matter what! If your puppy doesn't come, pick them up then set them down and try again. Lesson #4- Heel Homework Assignment #4 is to teach your puppy to heel / follow you around. To teach this, have a box of treats ready and maybe a toy near by. Now pet your puppy just a little, now go just in front of them and call your puppy. Now try moving your hand slowly in front of your puppy. Your puppy should follow. If they do, lots of praise (Petting, treats, and a short game). If they don't follow, simply repeat and try again. If they continue not following you, pet them a little again then try again. Keep practicing this until you can have them follow you at a slow pace clear across the screen. You don't want them running, but walking or 'trotting'. Don't forget to make this fun for your puppy! Lesson #5- House Training Homework Assignment #5 is to teach your puppy where to potty. Take your puppy outside and wait for them to 'go' (to get a picture of them 'going' pet them until they lower their end down low to the ground). When they do, lots of praise, petting, treats, and game they like. For extra pictures on this one, you can take of them walking around or sniffing the ground . Lesson #6- Show Training For this, you are going to need them to have a good heel. You will NOT be teaching them this by picking them up and dropping them so they are aligned. You will need to have them follow your hand and try an get them aligned by you being good with how you position them by getting them to follow you and move just right. This will take a little longer, and will be harder, but it is much more rewarding! Plus, your petz actually learn better. Right now we are looking for your puppy's show potential. Though we like seeing natural alignment, we are mostly just looking for a puppy's ability to strike a pose. This process is just like Free stacking a dog in real life. So practice at it and you will see they are actually quite good at aligning themselves!
