This class is to help you get your pets ready to pass their GPC test over at PKC. We accept dogs and cats!
You can take your puppies / kittens through this class if you'd like, but they won't be able to take their actual test until they are an Adult.
Even if you aren't registered at the PKC and just want to take this class for fun, feel free! It will still create a bonding experience and help your pet learn new things.
This class will start on Wednesday the 19th of January.

Good Petz Citizen Classes-
Lesson1-
In this lesson, we are going to teach your pet to follow your hand. Once they know how to do this, you can get them to do just about anything. So, go ahead and take your puppy to a non-distracting scene. Make sure all of their needs are met (as in they aren't too hungry or too tired). Get a box of treats ready and perhaps a favorite toy if they have one. Now double click in front of their nose, then slowly pull your hand a few inches away. If they follow your hand, pet them and reward them with a treat or their toy. Repeat. If they start to run, pick them up and set them back where they were and try again. Be sure not to pull away too fast, or too far. You want your dog to 'heel' by your hand / follow your hand while walking, not running. Be sure to do lots of rewards! Try taking a few pics of your pet in motion 'heeling' by your hand.
Post your results, and an overall on how the lesson went.
Lesson 2
In this lesson, we need to bring out 2-4 distracting toys. I like to use the stuffed dogs, cats, or wool chew toys. For now, just set them out and let your pet investigate them. If they try to play with the toy, ignore that. When they drop it, call them away from the toy and reward them for ignoring it. Continue this until they are mostly leaving the toy alone. Now, set up the toys where they can walk through them having 1 toy on each side of the pet. You might set out an auto rolling ball or a few treats to keep your pet occupied while you set up the toys, or even put them in a basket for a moment till your ready. Once your ready, practice having your dog heeling by your hand and see if you can get your pet to heel through the toys. Try to take pics as your pet goes through them. Be sure to reward them for following your hand and ignoring the toys!
Post up your results and how the lesson went overall!
Lesson 3
In this lesson, we need to get your pet used to grooming. Bring out some grooming supplies (whatever you have). Brush your pet, spray them with flea spray, bathe them, clip their nails, trim their coat, brush their teeth..etc.. Then need to get used to it all. Take pics during the process! Gor the GPC Test, it only requires a picture of you brushing your pet, so if you choose, that's all you have to do.
Post your pics and how it went!
Lesson 4
In this lesson, we need to teach your pet how to stay in a standing position. A good way to do this is to simply pet them real quick, then stop. You can pet them longer if you like. Try doing this with your pet sideways on. You want to try an capture a pic of your pet standing still and relaxed, not with wide eyes. If your pet does this well, be sure to go back and reward them by more petting and maybe even a treat.
Post pics and how it went!
By now, you should have pics of all the required tasks for your pet's GPC Test! For your last assignment, simply merge a pic of:
1. Dog Heeling 2. Dog Heeling through toys 3. Dog being brushed 4. Dog standing calmly
Be sure all pics are sideways on. Post it up here to see if you've passed the GPC part of the class. If you do, you will be able to submit your pet for their GPC test @ PKC if you choose to!
Be sure NOT to merge any of the pics in previous lessons. The only pics that should be merged are for the last assignment. This is to be sure no pics are submitted at PKC as edited pics!
Once you've pass the GPC Class, you can move onto the XPC Class, then onto the ChPC Class!
