You MAY enter one or two days late, but you will have your work cut out catching up.
If you want to donate prizes to the first three places and participants, I would love you forever!!!
Your Milage and map are HERE Your Mandatory stops are 8 Hours in McGrath, 24 Hours in Ruby, and 8 Hours in White Mountain.
- There are 19 checkpoints, every day I will let you know where you started for the day based on the previous days decisions, and have the potential to be in the race, if you blew through every checkpoint that day and and the checkpoints you will have to pass, you will decide your actions. Remember resting will slow your progress, but help your teams health. Keeping track of dropped/ill/in sled dogs is your responsibility.
- If you miss a day of decision, I will assume you decided to rest your team at each checkpoint you pass checkpoint for 4 hours.
- You may choose to rest your dogs on the tail for a maximum of 3 hours. You will get a .25 speed bonus for the next day if you rest all 3 hours.
- You may choose to rest your dogs at a checkpoint, for each hour you stay you get a .15 dog speed bonus for the next day.
- Certain checkpoints will have mandatory rest hours, but no speed bonus.
- If you blow through the checkpoint, you have an extra 5% chance of a dog getting injured for the next leg, but you will gain time on your competition.(A leg is the distance between checkpoints)
- If you rest the hours at a checkpoint for ever hour you rest you have a 1.25 % less chance of injury, you have a 5% less chance of an injured/ill dog the next leg. If you rest on the trail for every hour you rest you have 1% less chance for the rest of the leg. But you will lose time on your competition.
- If a dog is injured you will be required to stop at the next checkpoint for an hour and drop the dog with no speed bonus.
- If your team gets below 6 dogs, you must scratch.
- Every day, the chances of injury goes up 1%
- Small dogs have an extra 5% chance of being injured each leg.
- Dogs under the age of 50 have an extra 5% chance of being injured each leg.
- Teams using the Dog Bank, have an extra 5% chance of a dog fight each day. There is a 50/50 chance of a dog being injured in a fight.
- There is a 10% chance of a dog fight every day.
- You have a 5% chance of a dog running off each day.
- There is a 10% chance of a dog getting ill each day. The dog will be sick up to 3 days, with a 50% chance of getting well each day, 60% if you rest it in the sled for a day. If it does not get better, you will be required to drop the dog at the next checkpoint.
- You may rest up the 3 dogs in the sled for a day. For each dog in the sled you are slowed down by a full dog, but will earn an extra .5 speed bonus on the dog for a day once it is back in harness.
- Every day you must stop for an hour to feed your dogs. This is factored into your progress.
- The smaller your team, the slower you are, a full team can go 16 mph not including a speed bonus or penalty. A 6 dog team can only go 6 mph not including any bonuses or penalties. So a 16 dog team with an added .5 dog bonus can go 16.5 mph.
