"Brylee? What's wrong hon?" Mercury asked curiously. He was worried about his best friend after she had been dropped from the team and sent home. She'd come down with a respiratory infection and had gotten into a dogfight but was okay otherwise. He'd been giving her the prescribed medication diligently. Still, something seemed off about the female mutt. Perhaps she missed Miller as he was still running with the team in Alaska, long ways away from Southeast Georgia.
"I don't feel well. Besides the infection." Brylee replied with a frown. Deep down she knew what she and Miller had done in the fifteen hours the team had spent missing. Their poor musher was beside themselves upon finding them asleep in the snow. At the time it had been slightly amusing, ditching the musher and exploring the trail on their own. When Miller suggested...Brylee shook her head to rid herself of the thought. "Can I see the vet?" She asked, which was quite out of the ordinary.
"Of course!" Mercury replied quickly. He walked over to her pillow and gently lifted her into his arms. Without a moment's hesitation, he loaded Brylee up in the sedan and took off towards the vet office. He'd never heard any of his animals ask to go to the vets. This must have been serious.

"ARE YOU SERIOUS?!!?" Mercury couldn't believe it. He couldn't count how many times this had happened in the past year alone. "I can't leave you two alone for TWO SECONDS." Brylee flinched and tucked her tail. She never in a million years expected her best friend to be upset about this of all things.
"I'm sorry." Brylee whimpered softly. Mercury took a deep breath to calm himself. "I'm sorry too. I shouldn't have overreacted. Its just...money is tight right now and I don't know how I'm going to afford all the vet visits this will entail. But...I'm just going to have to figure it out." He sighed heavily by the end of his sentence. Brylee straightened up and nodded. "Okay. We'll figure it out together." She replied then head-bumped against Mercury's thigh. Mercury crouched with one hand on Brylee's head and the other pressed gently to her stomach.
