Lab Experiment Challenges
Here are some challenges to help you get going with your lab experiments! Feel free to suggest new ones- we'll reward any that get into this page with points!
Remember that anything created for these challenges has to be made with graphics you either made, have credit to use (either through personal permission or licenses), or come from free to use sources.
Initial Notes- 5 points. Can be completed once per pet.
Every lab experiment is different, and a good analysis of your own will help you understand and care for them. Please observe what kinds of mutations have occurred with your experiment, and what separates them from the standard pet. This can include physical changes or behavioral, or whatever seems of interest. Special abilities can be gauged in another challenge, but feel free to address them here.
Suitable Environment- 5 points, +5 points per scene if made yourself. Can be completed multiple times per pet.
Lab experiments may need safe environments that vary from the normal pet requirements, and seeking those out will be advantageous to raising your experiment. Some may do fine in a simple house, but others may need environments that mimic different biomes, some even fantastical and strange. Find an environment that fits your pet and either download or make a playscene for them- if the standard scenes that come with the game fit them fine, you can record that too.
Proper Diet- 5 points, +5 points per toy if if made yourself. Can be completed multiple times per pet.
Lab experiment diets can vary hugely, and every pet is unique. Some may be fine eating standard kibble, but others may need special accommodations. Find (or make) food and optionally, treats, that you can safely feed your lab experiment.
Sleeping Arrangements- 5 points, +5 points per toy if made yourself. Can be completed multiple times per pet.
A good lab experiment handler will make sure that their petz will be able to sleep comfortably. Standard pillows often work just fine for experiments, but some are too large (or too small) for them, among other potential difficulties. Seek out some kind of furniture or equipment that helps your lab experiment get a good night’s sleep.
Handling Gear- 5 points, +5 points per toy/clothing if made yourself. Can be completed multiple times per pet.
Handling a lab experiment can prove challenging even to those experienced in doing so, especially with some having powerful abilities and biology that’s hard to manage. Gear can help you out significantly, be it items that help keep your experiment calm, furniture that accommodates for their needs, or clothing (like collars and harnesses) to keep them identified and in check. Simple sweaters and pants may also keep your experiment warm. Create or download some gear for your experiment.
Recreational Equipment- 5 points, +5 points per toy if made yourself. Can be completed multiple times per pet.
Lab experiments may be strange creatures, but they require play and recreation like any other pet. Find which toys your experiment prefers, and if possible, make customizations to better suit them. Downloading toys or using the standards that come with the game is also welcome, and always available as an option to those who can’t or don’t want to hex.
Special Abilities- 5 points, +5 points per creation if anything is made yourself. Can be completed multiple times per pet.
Lab experiments are sometimes known to have strange abilities, some even dangerous to other experiments or their handlers. Find out what abilities yours has, record what their effects are, and figure out how best to handle them. Please include photos of these abilities in action, especially if they affect other petz. (Editing is welcome for photos!) If gear is needed to help harness these abilities, feel free to make or download some yourself.
