How Do I Get Points?
There are several ways to get points. I tried to include all sorts of aspects of Petz community fun! If you have any ideas, let me know! I've also written it in a way that you guys all help out and I get to participate too :)
Points will work a little different this year
At certain check points during the event (usually at the end of the month--June 30, July 31, and August 31), there will be a post calculating the teams current standing points for that month.
Rather than getting a fixed amount of points per activity, we will award Teams points based on their standing that month with the following placements:
1st -- 3 pts
2nd -- 2 pts
3rd -- 1 pts
The following are the categories used to get placements (aka points):
Note: don't feel overwhelmed by the amount of options here. This isn't meant to reflect every single thing you have to do for your team but rather, every member will have various things they are good at/want to do. This list is to give you options to get points for your team in whatever way you enjoy.
Hosting and Judging Shows/Contests: Use the prefix (SumOly) in front of any show/contest title posted on the Shows & Contests board to make it count towards the Summer Olympics! Shows must award placements BIS, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and HM. Please follow the rules of the board when hosting a show.
Kennel/Cattery Shows/Contests Points: Individual team members will keep track of how many points their petz have won in shows. For reference, BIS (5 pts), 1st (4 pts), 2nd (3 pts), 3rd (2 pts), HM (1 pt). A single pet or kennel/cattery with the most points will receive some extra attention!
Playdates: Hosting many or the most interesting playdates is a category. Please be sure to post photos and/or stream the playdate. Follow the rules of the board. Entering playdates also counts towards participation with certain petz and gain recognition to your petz/kennel/cattery.
Team Spirit: Create a thread to represent your team. You all decide who posts the first post, but you guys can all work together. Graphics, images of petz on teams, etc. you get creative with how you want to keep this updated! Decide on a team color: petz should try as often as possible to wear team colors. Hex clothes, make graphics, promote your team!
Update Home Kennels/Catteries: Post about your petz (related to Summer Olympics or not) in Kennel/Cattery board. At the end of the event, there will be a poll for favorite Kennel/Cattery updates at the end of the event! If you need a home board, message an admin. Please follow the rules of the board.
Adoptions: Have a pet that is doing really well during the competitions? Perhaps you have some show champions? Or maybe you want to practice your hexing skills? Breed a litter/open a hexing service and post it in the Adoption Center board. Petz adopted from you during the event and shown off in shows/events/updates could earn you breeder/hexer of the event points! Be sure to use the prefix (SumOly) before any adoption titles. Please follow the rules of the board.
Special Events: Sometimes there will be special games and events that can earn your team extra points for joining. I'd love to start up the soccer league again and pit teams against teams!
Posts: There will be a posting contest just like last year! When you get added to a team, your post count will be automatically included. At the end of the event, with a little bit of math, teams (and members) with the most post counts during the event will earn points! Please follow DG Rules for posting-- don't double post just to get your post count up.
