I recently adopted our good friend the Mean Persian Sacha from
Arie and @pinto from the Prizebox... I don't know if it's from sitting around there waiting to be adopted, but he is very rude indeed, but a super gorgeous cat and deserving of being in my crew.
Thor noticed him when I posted about him, and drew up some similarities with one of their own Catz, Duvet - an equally smug Persian. So, we decided to invite Duvet over so the two could bask in their own Mean Pearsiany goodness.
As I always like to, I started the playdate by welcoming Duvet to the household alone.
I got her out first in the Playpen, where we have a couple toys including those cute plushies. She started out in your typical cute Persian way, of course showing me her belly and telling me she was All It. I didn't see any of that mean streak straight away, and she settled in nice and quickly. Definitely an outgoing one, that's for sure.
Thor left a note saying that she was actually a bit of a picky eater for her breed, and she especially didn't like food from the blue bowl... For sure, she didn't eat out of the automatic feeder (Sacha has been known to gobble food out of it like there's no tomorrow!) and sure enough, she looked at the blue food with disgust. Since she was coming over for tea, it was a bit of a problem. I offered her some soup out of the blue cup and she preferred to play with it, too... I wonder if she just has a problem with blue. (I'd better not introduce her to my crew mascots...)
I filled her up on beef jerky so she at least wouldn't be hangry for her meeting with Sacha. Then, we gave her a bath and gave her an accessory she probably thinks is just right for her.
Sacha needed to get ready quickly, so he just threw on this outfit that matches his eyes. An easy choice for a quick playdate.
We had them meet in the family room first.
A little unsure? Relaxed, both of them, definitely, but they took quite some time to get used to each other... They did a lot of their own thing.
I have to wonder if they were both getting used to their new surroundings... Sacha is quite new to the household himself, after all, and Duvet was only a guest. Lots of curiosity between them, though! Lots of waiting... watching...
I decided to take them to the circus to try and loosen them both up.
Well, now that's more like it.
(Duvet got a bit cut off in that picture... erm... just don't tell her. Let her keep being smug...)
You know, Duvet is a lot sweeter than I thought she'd be! Rude Sacha kept being his rude self as you can see, but nothing really seemed to offend Duvet. I wonder if she developed a bit of a soft spot for him, or whether being a guest made her mind her manners. Well, she at least didn't seem to mind being pawed in the face while playfighting.
And at least they have one thing in common - they love to stuff their faces with ungodly amounts of sweets. Teatime was definitely the best time.
And there you have it! The verdict, I suppose, is that any guest will feel there are certain boundaries. I have to wonder if Sacha would feel the same way as Duvet coming over to yours, Thor.
Hope everyone enjoyed their little playdate! These are definitely fun to do!
