Most of what I've been doing in the last few days has been letting pets just hang out and play with each other, but I do have some updates.
Seaglass and Lobo seem to be bffs now. It's really cute! They actually left Raffles to play with the plane by himself while they threw the pompom back and forth.
A lot of what the young pets have been doing has been... a lot of socialising. Here's an example, Splendor meeting no:
Rage playing with the plane.
I guess I should introduce Rage and some of the newer pets!
Rage is the daughter of Ragtag and Ragged. Ragtag is one of my alleys, Ragged is a mixie with B&W personality. I named her Rage because yeah, she's pretty angry xD
This dog doesn't have a name yet, I'll be referring to her as "PeMo" for now ahaha. She's a tamsin I got from Bunni.
This is the penguin dog, he doesn't have much of a name either other than m3.
This is a new dog I got from meowlissa (I think) on TFM.
I'm not sure about keeping these last two as babies. When I get pets as adults, sometimes I like to keep them that way to simulate adopting an adult dog... but I also felt the like babies' playgroup could use more members. We'll see, I guess!
I was bored so I decided to have them all play the clothes game.
Some very, ah, interesting styles right here. Splendor seems to have inherited his parents' interest in clothes.
Seaglass and Rain might be getting along better? At one point I put Seaglass away and Rain joined Splendor in making sad noises! And when I put Rain away, Seaglass didn't seem very sad, but she didn't seem cheerful either.
I tried to get the babies to play with the Frisbee. The only one who showed and interest and "caught" it was Rage, who then proceeded to do a little happy dance. I love Rage, she has so much personality. xD
Now that some frisbee shows have FINALLY opened again, I can starting entering Lobo! He's the one who showed most promise from his group so I'm working on entering him first.
Unfortunately, I didn't account for the fact that hair seems to cover his eyes whenever he catches the frisbee.
"Ugh. I love catching the frisbee but do I have to catch it so many times?"
Meanwhile, I decided to try meowlissa's puzzle toy. It's a big box and you put some other boxes inside, and it dispenses treats. Highlights include: Raffles getting angry (as seen above)
And eventually giving up to lick his butt;
Lobo figuring out how to remove one of the boxes and looking super pleased with himself;
Splendor being left to figure out the box while Seaglass and Rain wrestled;
A picture I can't begin to describe;
The cats going on a very stealthy mission to hunt a treat;
The cats ambushing said treat;
Rage being the most driven and less easily distracted for the second group of babies.
I'd previously tried meowlissa's tennis balls. They each have a different colour value so you can try to figure out which colour is your pet's favourite. This time, I downloaded her colour lab playscene, which is a playscene where you can set out all the tennis balls more easily.
I have no clue what Raffles's favourite colour is. I used to think it was yellow, but he's all over the place with the tennis balls. He does seem to gravitate towards black and grey the most, followed by brown and then orange but... I'm not sure.
This time, I decided to try it with the other pets. Lobo had lots of fun just swatting the balls around lol.
He was the only one whose favourite colour I think I figured out -- it might be purple, since he picked the purple ball the most.
I'm very excited about Lobo. He was a random breeding result that I decided to keep because I thought he looked like a wolf/dachshund mix, and now I've ended up really clicking with his personality! So glad I gave him a chance. He's really smart and active so he's really funny to watch and a breeze to train.
I've also been slowly working on this custom playscene:
It's a little room I made for Raffles and his family. My goal is to eventually have playscenes for some of the bigger families/groups in my game. I'm still working on the one above but I like how it's turning out. Maybe I'll start making custom playscenes for other people!
Meanwhile, today was a big day for Lobo!
I decided to enter Shaina's frisbee trial and was trying to choose between Lobo and Raffles. I didn't think Lobo would do well yet but decided to try anyway.
This was the first time he was doing any kind of trial and in the play pen, no less, which I think is harder.
(not sure if these are in order)
He actually aced it! Not just that, but I discovered his eyes sometimes show when catching the frisbee... though not necessarily at the best angles. I do like that second picture, though, and might start entering it in shows.
I'd get him a special frisbee like I did for Raffles when he got 10/10 in the SumOly challenge but I think Amanda's purple frisbee suits him so well. xD
I'm extremely proud of him! Entering him in pose shows is being a slog since he typically scores pretty low (I think his highest was 2nd or something) so I can't wait for Truffle to resume posing so I can mix it up a bit.
By now many of you have probably seen what the secret project was! meowlissa and I have started a thing to promote non-pose (activity) shows! We've made a hub site where you can find information and resources, as well as a link to a Discord server! This site includes a new title, "World Legend", that you can get by collecting as many title types as possible with your pet. We're also holding Activity Shows September, where you can win prizes by holding and participating in non-pose shows. We hope you like it!
meowlissa also came up with a title system for mousing shows. I previously entered my alley Ruffian in those, but since I'm aiming for World Legend with Raffles, I figured he should enter this time.
Raffles is... not very good at mousing.
He kept missing the mice.
A fun fact is that you can bring out mice using the stick, instead of treats. My game has been glitchy lately (and yeah, I'm paranoid) so at some point this wasn't working. I had to use treats.
He kept eating them all, eventually reaching 80-something fatness. *facepalm*
He was very concerned about the mice stealing his treats. I myself am concerned because wow mice should not be eating meat, that's messed up.
Finally, he managed to catch a mouse.
He decided to lick it. He's so sweet and gentle and not much of a hunter.
Fortunately, he also decided to run around with his new friend, which made it possible to snap a picture. If anyone asks, he's definitely fiercely hunting.
Next up, it was time for agility, which is one of the titles he's started on but hasn't completed.
I tried to get him to use this jump thing from PDH but he didn't seem interested.
After various attempts to show him some special agility toys, I gave up and just used the cat scratcher. He was very happy about this.
After working so hard, I decided to reward him with some food (his weight was now normal) and some brushing.
My plan was to bring out his kids to play with him in their new room, but Caro decided to walk in instead.
Ok, cool. They flirted and explored the new playscene together.
I definitely neutered him! No idea how this happened. Raffles is going to flood my game with puppies. 101 Raffles.
Same, Raffles. Same.
I was so alarmed I closed the game and forgot to turn off the "babies should be born instantly" option, so Caro had the baby when I next played the game.
This baby is also a girl and also very Raffles-y. One of her sisters is named Seaglass, so I tried to come up with a sea-themed name... and unfortunately came up with Hermit. As in hermit crab. Sorry!
Raffles seems to be a more attentive dad this time around.
I took out the rest of the family to meet the baby and snapped this picture of Rain sneaking up on Seaglass.
Seaglass was NOT happy about her new sister. She kept making angry noises at the baby.
"I already have one sister I can barely stand! Why, oh why???"
When I sent Caro and the baby inside, Rain and Raffles seemed pretty bummed out. Seaglass was less so. (She also doesn't seem to get along with her mum.)
And by the way... Raffles's relationship with Cloud is also going strong. I obviously double checked that they were both fixed when I saw them flirting.
This is going to be a big update! I couldn't type much for a couple of days because I got my COVID shot and my arm was sore. I might actually update again later, but I couldn't wait to get caught up on all that's happened.
Hermit is extremely cute!
Seaglass seems to be very partial to Raffles and doesn't get along with Caro very well, so it's nice to see that Hermit seems to love her <3
Seaglass has been slowly warming up to Hermit's general existence. Meanwhile, for a while there, Splendor kept bringing Hermit his favourite toys and it was very cute.
My plan used to be that after Raffles had had 1-2 kids, I'd breed more of them so I could gift them to people. Unfortunately, I'm too attached! I made an exception for meowlissa, though, because I got Caro from her. This Raffles's 4th kid, who I named Flotsam.
She played with her family for a bit and then said goodbye to them, which was very emotional. I hope she has a great time in her new home!
I also decided to celebrate the arrival of September by grabbing an autumn forest playscene and gyiyg's edible clover. I've wanted to have a foresty place for a bit so I figured why not? It's not like I was in the mood to do anything intense.
The seeds themselves are edible, so I had to send everyone inside. They just kept eating them.
Scrampus decided to help at some point. I let her, thinking she might help with the mice who kept stealing the seeds. Unfortunately, she decided to run back and forth under the watering can instead, because of course she did.
I brought everyone out in pairs so they could see the new forest and snack on some clover.
I took the babies to the beach. Nothing much happened (there was a lot of napping) but Splendor tried to hog all the toys at one point.
I decided to take them to the tropical island instead, hoping more would happen. It did! Hermit somehow ate the message in the bottle. O.o
Lobo finally made it to SGCh! This means the show type he's focusing on now is frisbee. Once Raffles finishes getting the agility, tricks, and hopefully mousing titles, it'll be his turn. Sadly, those shows have been moving pretty slowly lately.
To celebrate, I decided to throw him a party on the island, complete with catnip.
Lamb decided to constantly drop the music box in the water.
I had everyone come out in small groups to say hi. That's Jonas, contemplating existence. A nice thing that happened is that Jonas and Raffles seem to be getting along again! They used to be bffs but then started to fight for no reason, so I'm glad they seem to have called a truce in the name of partying.
Rory wasn't very sure about it.
I decided to hold what turned out to be the world's worst football tournament. First, I sorted the babies into teams:
Yellow, with Seaglass and Hermit.
Pink, with Rain and Splendor.
Red, with Rage and the dog I got from Bunni.
The first match was Pink vs. Yellow. Almost everyone decided to sleep in the middle of the field, except for Seaglass.
She only actually scored after everyone else woke up, though.
I don't remember who won, I think it was pink?
There was A LOT of everyone getting the ball but then running in the wrong direction.
The next match was Yellow vs. Red. Rage climbed up on the tree and the dogs spent an eternity just barking and being upset instead of actually playing the game.
This dog was not amused when Hermit finally scored a goal.
Red vs. Pink was frankly a very ridiculous match.
At one point, Rain got the ball... and then she decided to drop it in the middle of the field, instead of scoring a goal. I don't know what the still-unnamed dog was doing.
Rage decided to plop himself down in the goal area and lick his butt.
At some point, Rain fell asleep, and then I guess everyone decided to wrestle. Keep in mind that the score was still 0-0 at this point.
Unnamed Dog FINALLY scored a goal, much to my relief.
The last and definitely worst game was Yellow vs. Red. It went on forever because nobody was scoring or doing any playing. Unnamed Dog again came to the rescue and finally scored the match's single goal, making Red victorious.
With Lobo done with pose shows, it was time to prepare the next wave of contestants. I decided to bring them out for some pose training.
It was kind of a disaster. Truffle seems to have started posing again, but the Unnamed Dog, who usually poses whenever I take pictures, decided to... not pose.
Worse, she decided to be hostile to the others, and especially poor Truffles.
meowlissa gave me this dog. She's a ridiculously enormous orange dog.
I introduced her to everyone and thought she and Raffles might get along.
Instead, she decided to chase him around while he ran away in terror.
She's terrifying and ridiculous, which is a great combination.
Raffles met his mother-in-law. It did not go well for him.
Her name is Scruffy. She's Caro's mum and meowlissa gave her to me.
September was both very eventful but also not. I spent a lot of time entering petz in activity shows and helping manage Activity Shows September, so that was where a lot of my petzing time went.
Cute picture of Scrampus wrestling with the cheese.
Raffles has almost achieved the maximum titles in all the main show types, so Lobo and Scrampus were a big focus in this regard.
I tried to enter him in Amy's herding show. I started out with some ducks, but they were bullying him and chasing him around. Poor Raffles.
He seems to get along with the sheep WAY better.
THEN, this month, I was sick and exhausted and didn't get to do much petzing other than some of the Halloween things... hopefully I'll be able to start again soon.
This is Raffles dressed up as a lion, in the banner I made for answering the door on WW.
Seaglass, Rain, and Hermit dressed up as pirates.
Scrampus just wore a minimalistic witch costume. I snapped some pictures of her wearing bat wings but the witch hat just suits her so well.
I wanted to make a custom costume for Lobo but didn't get to do it
Lobo has maxed out the frisbee title and a lot of frisbee shows are dogs-only, so I decided I needed to bring in a new frisbee dog.
That's right, Seaglass! I'm very excited for her.
Hermit came out of the case while I was playing with Seaglass and immediately decided to goof off, before starting a fight with her sister and getting a time out.
Since she'd seemed interested in what Seaglass was doing, I decided to try to show her the frisbee.
She was pretty bad at it at first -- there were multiple occasions when the frisbee was super close to her but she just stared at it instead of jumping. Fortunately, Lobo and Raffles were able to teach her.
She soon got the hang of it!
I saw Amy opening a bunch of shows of types Raffles doesn't have titles in, so I decided to enter him in lure coursing. After taking the show picture, I decided to play with him a bit more since he was having a lot of fun chasing the ball around (as always).
Another attempt at entering a herding show. The sheep are VERY chaotic. Even when Raffles did things that could have made for a good picture, the sheep always got in the way. I thought I might be able to get a good picture of the thing where the dog lies down among the sheep.
At one point, everyone just decided to jump onto the treat and hold onto it.
