Oof. Real life happened and I didn't have as much petz time as I would have liked
but finally, here's an update!
This is Bleu, the scaredy dog I got from
bex :
I was naturally raising him and a couple others so that's what I'm continuing to do now that I'm back.
I decided to do the Gundog challenges from Bex's site
here, it just seems like a fitting activity to do with him! He's not fully grown yet so I'm doing the Puppy challenges. I did most of them today to celebrate being back and bond with him a little bit
1 Get to know your new pup, what are their favourite toys and food.
Thanks to Thor's handy program, I know his favourite food is beef. But what's his favourite toy?
I set out a bunch of toys for him to choose from.
He seemed to really like the robin plush. He even sat around with it in his mouth!
He wasn't so sure about the yellow frisbee.
Here, he's angry at the Dogz plush.
His ultimate favourite toy, however, seems to be the shoe. He ALWAYS plays with it.
And then he gets mad at me if I take it from him.
2 Teach your pup a basic recall by whistling the hand and then petting the dog when it runs to you.
I've been doing this with him since he was a baby, so he's gotten really good at it!
3 The Great outdoors, take your pup outside (not the backyard) try the beach, woods, moorland. Experience some different places together, play and explore.
I'm currently tidying up my custom playscenes so I decided to take him to the beach.
Sniffing the sand.
He wasn't very sure about the beach ball. He doesn't really seem to take to new things easily.
He was curious about the green frisbee, though, so I threw it for him. He did really well and kept bringing it to me so I could throw it again.
While I was saving a picture, he started digging to bury the stick! I was amazed because my dogz rarely do this so quickly.
Just then, though, Bleu got distracted. The hermit crab came out of its shell and Bleu obviously had to check if the shell is tasty or not.
4 Time to desensitise your dog, try introducing your pup to larger dogs, pups, other species. Try grooming, introducing to different toys and places around your home.
Bleu has gone on a few adventures so far! I've discovered he really likes singing and dancing to the music box.
And being petted, of course.
Meeting some friends! EDIT: I just realised I'd already posted this picture! My previous post has some of the earlier pictures of him meeting petz and playing with them.
Bleu doesn't seem to like most pets but he was getting along well with Rory... until they had a falling out. I don't know what happened.
He hasn't gotten the hang of the treat ball yet.
He's a bit scared of the feathery toy.
SPA TIME!
I don't know what to say about this picture.
Since he disapproves of most petz, I thought I'd introduce him to the mice. He was NOT happy that the mice kept trying to steal his treats.
5 Time for some basic puppy retrieve, choose a fun soft toy and begin by throwing for your dog to pick up, every time the pup brings the toy back to your hand give them a pet.
I trained this with him before, but I guess I didn't take pictures, so I did it again today and this time made sure to grab some photos.
He's just so cute.
He was getting sleepy so I placed him on the pillow... and he fell asleep with the toy <3
