1. Introduce your pet:
Meet Daybreak! She's the puppy on the team, so I decided that she would be a good candidate for the gameplay journal. Her favorite flavor is beef, and her favorite colors are green and yellow. She is currently practicing hard for the frisbee trial!
Her parents are Remington (from Bard) and Matilda (bred by me).
Over the next few weeks, I will share Daybreak's wholesome adventures of puppyhood!

2. Hermit Crab
Hermit crab? Hmm, That must be someone who likes to stay at home and is kind of grumpy.
Oh, that is NOT funny. I am NOT a crab!
Well, this is awkward. In any case, Daybreak had fun playing with Ralph today. I think they really do like each other as there was a lot of gift giving and playful hoppity behavior. As someone who never does anything with the actual hermit crab, I guess I have to....break out of my shell...and make Daybreak take a look at one.
Daybreak did some cloudwatching while we waited for a hermit crab.
Then she played with a nasty stick that was laying around, but she got bored of that quickly. I guess she likes the beach about as much as I do. I really never go there!
Solarfall came by to try to make things a little more interesting. But it didn't work. He wasn't really dressed for it anyway.
So we went to the South Seas and Solarfall and Daybreak looked for crabs there. We didn't know if they appear there or not. We don't know much about hermit crabs except that they are kind of spooky. (Evidently Solarfall thinks they can fly though.)
Daybreak started to bury a coconut she found, but I guess she got sand in her nose because she stopped. We decided to take the coconut with us and return to the beach. This time, there was a shell there. I assumed a hermit crab was lurking within.
She was far more interested in her coconut than she was in the do nothing hermit crab though.
I waited for a while to see if something would happen, but when it didn't I decided that it was time to take the coconut home and let Daybreak tell my little hermit crab, Ralph, about her day at the beach and how much better it is to stay at home where it's nice and quiet and there's a closet full of clean toys.
We did place the coconut in a place of prominence on the mantel.
See you next time - this was coco-NUTS!

Daybreak is a dancer! She is usually pretty quiet when the music box is playing, and it took a bit for her to get the idea, but she even does the more complex dance moves (which were a bit difficult to capture with the shutter speed on my spacebar). (She was doing some kind of cartwheel backflip thing. I told her to watch her spine ballz. I guess when you're a rubbery puppy you don't have to worry about that.)
It's not a dance party without Jesse - my dance loving cat - so I brought him out to play. Unfortunately, he jumped up onto the mantel and Daybreak thought he was going to steal her coconut from yesterday. Jesse found this accusation to be absurd, which only seemed to further irritate Daybreak. I figured we'd better take a break and simmer down.

Today, Daybreak is learning about what a "reward" is.
We had some treats - she was very good at playing dead, though I struggled to capture an appropriate frame for the photo.
She even obliged me with a somersault.
The treats were very nice and Daybreak enjoyed the mental stimulation. We went out to the backyard after that. Ralph was there, of course. He was feeling grumpy.
But Daybreak wasn't intimidated, she cheered Ralph up right away.
They shared their bones with one another and frolicked about.
Daybreak learned a lot about how rewarding friendship can be.

Today Daybreak and Ralph played frisbee and admired their backyard bone collection. But Ralph was getting tired after catching so many frisbees.
He tried to be a good sport, but I could see that we needed to go back inside. It's a hot, sunny day and he is a black dog in a sweater, after all.
So we went back to the toy closet to cool off and have a drink.
Ralph did a good job of showing Daybreak that it is "cool" to take care of your body's needs!
Stay thirsty, my friends!
