Realizing I ran my dogz a bit too much yesterday with out as much food as they needed I spend the first 1.5 hour of the day resting and feeding/watering the dogz. 5 cups of food per dog.
I decided to spend the day taking it easy after yesterday with lots of rest, snacks, and only pacing today. 2 hours paced .5 hour rest, feed each dog 2 cups food and water them 4 hours paced 1 hour rest, feed water dogz, 3 cups/dog 5 hours paced 2 hours rest, feed/water dogz, 4 cups/dog 3 hours paced .5 hour rest, feed/water dogz 1.5 cups/dog 2.5 hour paced .5 hour rest, feed/water dogz 1 cup/dog 1 hour paced .5 hour rest, feed/water dogz 1 cup/dog
Total Hours: 24 Resting - 6.5 Pace- 17.5 Push - 0

After accidentally not feeding enough food the first day, we spend the first 2 hours feeding the dogs and checking them over. Each dog gets 8 cups of food.
Pace for 4 hours. Rest for 2 hours. Feed dogs 4 cups of food each. Push for 3 hours. Pace for 3 hours. Rest for 2 hours. Feed dogs 6 cups of food each. Pace for 6 hours. Rest for 2 hours. Feed dogs 6 cups of food each.
If at any point I reach a check point, I want to drop Glacies.
Total Pace: 13 hours Total Push: 3 hours Total Rest: 8 hours Total Fed: 24 cups

The first day of the race is over and I don't feel so overwhelmed. Even though we're close to the back of the pack, we're still in this race! After I wake up, I check the team and notice my girl Chena is acting a bit off. She seems to have a virus, so before feeding everyone I tend to her. Once that's taken care of, I feed everyone food and make sure they all have plenty of water before feeding myself some breakfast.
I get the dogs hooked up to the sled and am feeling confident we can make up some ground with the weather looking fairly tame until we approach mile marker 260. I don't want to push the dogs that hard, so we should be able to keep up a nice pace today without much trouble.
++++++
Wake up, routine check, tend to Chena, feed 4 cups and hook up dogs to sled - 2hrs Push for 3hrs Rest for 1hr and feed 3 cups of food and water dogs Push for 1hr Pace for 2hrs Rest for 1hr and feed 3 cups of food and water dogs Push for 1hr Pace for 3hrs Rest for 1hr and feed 3 cups of food and water dogs Push for 3hrs Pace for 3hrs Rest for 3hrs and feed 5 cups per dog and water dogs
Stats: Rest - 8hrs Pace - 8hrs Push - 8hrs Total cups of food - 18

Royal Fluff
First day of the race went pretty well for us, Bear and Tyson got into a small scrap but nothing too bad and no one was hurt. I miiiight've overfed my dogs...just a touch(okay so more like I basically doubled the amount of needed calories LOL) whoops.
Pace until reaching Yentna Station(I believe I'm at mile 49 and that's at 53, should be less than an hour?) Rest for 2 hours at Yentna Station, feed 2 cups and give water Push for 2 hours Pace for 3 hours Rest for 2 hours, feed dogs 2 cup and give water Push for 2 hours Pace for 2 hours Rest for 1 hour, feed dogs 2 cup and give water Push for 2 hours Pace for 3 hours Rest for 2 hours, feed dogs 2 cups and give water Push for 2 hours Pace until end of 24 hours
Hours of pushing: 8 Hours of pacing: 8 (not including the first "pace" and the last "pace" as I'm not sure exactly how long those will take due to the first one haha) Hours of resting: 7 Total fed: 8 cups

Starting at Anchorage, and skipping the first checkpoint, the checkpoint, Yetna Station, is 53 miles from Anchorage. How do we know the speed of our sled? I assume pushing is full speed and pacing is half speed? Also jumping on the food question, my food says 526 kcal/cup, which I assume is 5,260 cal/cup? That's quite a lot. It is a little confusing for the units on food. kCal or Kcal is equal to Cal not cal. So on average a sled dog that is pushed for 12 hours need 10000 kCal (or 10000 Cal). Your food is 526 kcal/cup so an average team would need 10000 kCal/526 kCal/cup . -Andrew

Second day of the race and wow! We had a close call! We passed up team Jet Flare while they were camping and now we are in the lead which means we're breaking the trail which has slowed us down a little. While trying to make a turn, the dogs turned a little too fast and sharp and the sled hit a rock. Almost tipped us over but with my amazing cat like reflexes I saved it! Whew! We were almost out of the race! We pushed on but didn't quite make it to the check point. We hope to make it there first thing in the morning, since we've already rested though we'll push on though Rainy Pass Checkpoint.
The weather looks good for today besides a possible small snow storm and it sounds like the terrain could get a little tricky. Going to try not pushing the team too hard and keep at a steady pace.
Wake up & Feed 2 cups of food per dog & give water. Look over dogs and find that Maree's paw has healed enough to run with the team today. That will help get some weight off the sled too. Get dogs hooked up to the sled. 2 hours Push 2 hours Pace 2 hours Stop and rest for 1 hour, feed 1 cup food per dog & give water Push for 1 hour Pace 3 hours Stop and rest for 1 hour, feed 2 cups food per dog & give water Push 1 hour Pace 3 hours Stop and rest 1 hour, feed 1 cup food per dog & give water Push 1 hour Pace 4 hours Stop and rest 2 hours, feed 2 cups food per dog & give water + Check dogs over for injuries and such
Total hours ran: 5 Total hours paced: 12 Total hours rested: 7 Total cups fed: 8 Total Hours: 24

Day 2 and I'm a little shaky this morning. I had a close call with falling off my sled yesterday, but my lead girl Page was on top of her game and brought the team to a halt. I gave her lots of pats and praise and am so thankful to have such an amazing team. Although I wasn't harmed this time, I must remain cautious! Now where did I put that duct tape...
The dogs seem a little sluggish and bloaty, so we're going to not overfeed them today. The weather report shows some smooth sailing, so this team is going to take advantage while we have the chance. I check on Chena and she's still under the weather, so she'll stay in the sled today. After everyone is fed, I hook up the dogs and away we go!
Wake up, routine check, pack Chena in sled and feed dogs 3 cups and water - 1hr Push for 3hrs Rest and feed 3 cups and water the dogs 1hr Push for 3hrs Rest and feed 2 cups and water 1hr Push for 3hrs Rest and feed 3 cups and water 1hr Pace for 2hrs Rest and feed 2 cups and water 1hr Push for 3hrs Rest, feed dogs 4 cups of food and water, make camp for the night - 5hrs **If at any point I hit the blizzard, I wish to stop and rest instead of carrying on**
Stats: Total hours pushing: 12 Total hours pacing: 2 Total hours resting: 10 Total cups fed: 17

On our second day on the trail, I noticed Jade wasn't acting herself. It seems she has some sort of virus. So I loaded her onto the sleigh so I could treat her and she can get some rest. We already had to leave Glacies at the last checkpoint because of a broken paw. Hopefully Jade will overcome her virus with no permanent damage.
The dogs are feeling the loss of their two companions' strength as we begin for the day. The start of the race has been hard on the team, but they are strong and ready for the day. We begin with a rest and feeding time.
Rest 1 hour. Feed 4 cups of food per dog. Pace 3 hours. Push 3 hours. Rest 1 hours. Feed 5 cups of food per dog. Push 3 hours. Pace 3 hours. Rest 2 hours. Feed 5 cups of food per dog. Push 3 hours. Pace 3 hours. Rest 2 hours. Feed 4 cups of food per dog.
Total pace: 9 hours Total push: 9 hours Total rest: 6 hours Total food: 18 cups

I've been too nice on my dogz, letting them rest (aka forgetting to post whoops my bad sorry bout that). But we have a race! So I'ma give them a little tough love today by testing their limits! Maybe we can catch up because the weather is good today.
I suppose that Lady is out of the race, so I'll drop her off at the nearest checkpoint (which hopefully shouldn't be too far away).
Day 3 Push for 4 hrs Pace for 1 hrs Push for 1 hrs Rest for 1 hrs, feed 4 cups of food and water Push for 3 hrs Rest for 1 hrs, feed 4 cups of food and water Push for 3 hrs Pace for 1 hrs Rest for 1 hrs, feed 4 cups of food and water Push for 3 hrs Rest for 1 hrs, feed 4 cups of food and water Push for 3 hrs Rest for 1 hrs, feed 4 cups of food and water
Total Push: 17 Total Pace: 2
*Its 4 cups of food per dog, not just 4 cups of food total.
((also thanks for running this ^^ I think I'm starting to understand the numbers~ I'll try to remember to do this early))
