The History of the Athletic Auvieay
What is an Auvieay?
Auvieay refers to any dog descended from Quail and Reeses as seen in the pedigree above. (Not currently updated with all of Hershel X Starlight's pups, but they can be seen in the family tree below)
The most ideal are born with keen athletic abilities, high energy levels, and as of recently, orange paw-pads to give them a special signature flare. (Thanks to Buck for showing me how to hex this feature)
The Auvieay legacy is built on love and is about the natural raising journey. The natural raising process allows each puppy to receive love and positive reinforcement for their interest in athletic sports, form close bonds with their siblings and parents, and a spotlight whether they are the pick of the litter or the cutest good for nothin'!
The story of the Auvieay family....
It all started with a dog named Quail. Quail was born in 2018 from some breeding stock I had with the intention of obtaining a dog to naturally raise, bond with, and post updates about her on Duke's Group. She is a very playful and energetic dog which made her a perfect candidate for the very first Duke's Group Summer Olympics back in 2019 which was hosted by Thor. Quail's best friend is a little dog named Reeses who was bred by Thor, and she also has an unlikely mate, Mia, who is a female purebred jet-black Great Dane. These two, against the laws of biology, miraculously had three puppies who, along with their two mothers, and Reeses, competed in the 2019 Duke's Group Summer Olympics on Team August.

In the beginning of our journey, I wasn't very choosey when it came to selective breeding and I was guilty of breeding dogz I found to be the cutest or my favourites for some reason or another, but after the Petz personality revealer program was invented, that was quite literally a game changer for me. (Throughout the rest of this I'm this I'm going to be talking about AV which is short for acrobatic value) At last, there was as easier more concrete way to evaluate my dogz' athletic capabilities and thus, allowed for the further continuation of breeding towards dogz with heightened athletic abilities.
Prior to this, I would conduct what I called a "Pup-cup" which was like a smaller-scale personal Summer Olympics using a few dogz from the most recent generation. The Pup-Cup consisted of training each dog for a set amount of time in each sport, conducting a trial of each dog in each sport, documenting the results, and adding up their scores to find which dog was the best at which sport as well as which dog was best overall. Pup-Cups are a lot of fun, but sometimes they were a lot of work (Especially when I did one with five dogz). Although I now have a faster system to determine a dog's athletic ability using the personality revealer program, I would still like to have this entertaining competition again someday. Especially considering acrobatic value doesn't necessarily mean the dog is going to have an interest in catching Frisbees or playing soccer for example, but through the Pup-Cup I would learn about their interests.
The new breeding standards
With five years of natural raising and Auvieay bloodline development under our belt, we are currently on the sixth generation from our founding dog, Quail. It is up to Hershel and Starlight to continue the legacy. The two are currently raising their fourth puppy, however, despite both of them being skillful athletes, they have yet to birth a suitable heir to the throne. You see, ever since I began using the personality revealer I altered the standards for breeding. The goal is to produce dogz with a 90 acrobatic value or higher. Here are the rules I go by for breeding. I pick the dog from my most recent generation who has a strong interest in sports and who has the highest acrobatic value (90 or higher) out of their siblings. I pick out a dog from my alternative breeding stock who can be a suitable mate. The dog's mate must not only have an acrobatic value of 90 or higher, but also have two parents each with acrobatic values of 90 or above. This seems like it should ensure that the majority of the time breeding two dogz of this criteria would result in puppies with high acrobatic value, but it's not that simple. Take Quinoa and Sprinkles for example.
Sprinkles as an acrobatic value of 53 and Quinoa has an acrobatic value of 50 which aren't very good, but these two had two puppies. Davina and Hershel. Davina's acrobatic value is 50, but Hershel's value is 97! Hershel is the best for breeding, so I paired him with Starlight who has an acrobatic value of 99 and whose parents fit the acrobatic requirements as well. But look what happened... These two have had four puppies. Take a look at their acrobatic values.
Isn't it odd that two dogz with AV in the 50s can have a puppy with an AV of 97 on their second try, but when I breed Hershel and Starlight four times not a single pup has a high AV despite having more recent ancestors with higher AV than the previous generation. Petz genetics aren't always so simple, but this might have been due to a lot of external influence from past generations. Formerly I was breeding each pick of the litter with a dog I adopted from somebody else who likely didn't have any note worthy athletic abilities. As time goes on, acrobatic value should become more consistent and predictable as each new generation presents itself In the meantime, I'm going to be bonding with Cosmo and Doea Rae and giving our two youngest ones the spotlight they deserve!
And yes, I know I'm a total nerd for this game haha. Thank you for reading, and check out my Auvieay Ambassadors and their achievements in their careers.
