Day 2When I took Fosse out today I was happy to see that he was old enough to come out by himself. The first thing we did was go to the closet and pick out something spiffy for him to wear.
This is what I picked out for him:
He seemed to like his new outfit so it sticked.
I then was curious to see if he was treat-trainable. Unfortunately when I placed a fish treat on the ground he immediately started to stalk & pounce. ): I then took him to the family room so that he could get familiar with the mice. My prediction was that he wasn't going to be afraid of them and I was right! As soon as he saw a mouse run out of the hole he pounced on it like it was nothing! I think Fosse is going to be a pro at mouse hunting.
He also caught a few more mice. One time, he threw the grey mouse to the other side of the room! I think Fosse's getting a little too excited, haha. I know for sure now that mice are not his friends.
When I brought out the cheese to try and lure the mice out, I learned that Fosse doesn't like it. However, he did carry it in his mouth around the mouse hole area as if to say "I'll play nice now and give you some cheese!" So cute. I'll be keeping a record of how many mice Fosse has caught. So far he has caught 4.
I remembered the idea of making a 'growing chart'* or taking a stack picture everyday to see how much a pet has grown & I wanted to do that with Fosse. So, with a little effort, Fosse managed to stay focused and throw me a good pose. Here is the result and a few outtakes. *Note: I will be making the chart once Fosse is full-grown. For now, I'll just post the pictures in my first post.
It soon was time for dinner so I took Fosse to the kitchen (replaced his little outfit with a collar) and placed a food bowl in front of him. This time it was actual cat food, no leftovers today. That was just allowed because it was his first day.
Even though he looked hungry he wasn't really interested in the food itself rather he enjoyed playing with the plate. He tossed it here and there and dragged it across the floor. He would've kept going if it wasn't for the bug who came crawling in and interrupted his plate fun. I realized that I didn't bring out the bug barn and now there was no way I could get Fosse to eat! Right away he began stalking and pouncing on the bugs. It was a funny thing to watch! I had to go to the toy closet and grab the bug barn before Fosse spoiled his dinner, LOL. After a minute or two, the bugs were gone and it was just Fosse & his food bowl. He gulped down almost all his food and then I gave him a banana treat as dessert. (:
I wanted to try offering him the milk bottle again and guess what, today he drank it even though he was full! What can I say, this kitty's unpredictable, haha.
After dinnertime, I brought out the mouse-on-wheels toy
and hoped that Fosse would practice his hunting skills. To my surprise, the real mice started to come out! I thought that they would stay away from the mighty hunter Fosse but no, they wanted to join in on the fun! Haha, ofcourse, between catching the real mice and the toy mouse, Fosse chose to catch the real mice! On one of the catches, I managed to take a picture of him standing on one! xD
After he caught both mice, they soon ran away and /then/ Fosse started paying attention to the toy mouse. Oh how he played! He wasn't even a wee bit scared of it. Instead he chased it, stalked it, pounced on it, dragged it, threw it, everything you can imagine, lol.
After all that exercise & fun, it was time for Fosse to get some sleep for another day tomorrow. He did go to sleep but only for a few seconds. He woke up and started grooming himself. This took a good five minutes. Wow, I was waiting for him to finish so that he could rest his little body. He did finally go to sleep for a while and that's when a mouse came out and ran all around him. If only Fosse knew...
Sweet dreams my little one.
