Me: I better check up on how my cat cadet is doing. I’d like to find out what kind of sickness puts a cadet down and out for this long.


Padma: Surprise....
Me: Well this is unexpected. What exactly happened over at Bird’s house? Why did your uniform change?
Padma: The usual shenanigans, I suppose. You know Bird, she painted me.
Me: Doesn’t she know that we’re at war, here? We’re trying to win the Summer Olympics!


Padma: We don’t seem to mind. I fell in love with a beautiful black calico mix over there.
He was so dreamy. Next thing you know, I couldn’t control myself and everything changed.
Me: You said he was black, why is he tan??


Padma: You can see that?? *clears throat* He was painted too.
Me: Of course he was, you met him at Bird’s, I see.


Junior: I’m going to be a cadet when I grow up! Can I, moma, can I?
Padma: You can do anything you put your mind to, sweetheart. Wait, why is he different now?
Me: Both his parents were painted, I decided he should be, too.
Padma: Idk how I feel about the permanence, though.
Me: Sorry, not sorry.


Junior: I’m going to win the Summer Olympics some day!
Padma: You sure are, kid.
Me: Well it looks like you two are doing well. I’m happy to hear you’re not sick after all,
and I expect you to report back to camp once the little lad is weaned.


Padma: Absolutely, yes sir.
Me: It’s ma’am.
