I have kept one of the Feral kittens we just got in today to help nourish back to health. If you would like to take one in, you can find them HERE.
This one is a female, and definitely wants nothing to do with me at the moment.
We have been given some medicine and flea stuff to help her start feeling better, then I imagine it will take a while before she is fully trusting of people.
Here's day 1 of where she's at on her brainsliders / what the vet has told us.
First thing first is the flea spray;
She didn't seem happy about it but tolerated it at least.
I took her into the playpen I set up for her and put the medicine in her food along with some vitamins in her water. She was surprisingly curious about the items I put in her playpen for her to play with. I was expecting her to be more scared.
She took her time checking everything out and actually seems like she could be a very playful kitten once she's trusting of people again. Even though she must be super hungry, she chose to play with things.
I sat down in the playpen with her to just watch her and be there if she chose to check me out or want some loves. So far I have been unable to pet her.
Here's some pics I took of her checking everything out. She seemed a bit nervous of the food bowl itself.
After a while, I was finally able to get her to eat. I wonder how long it's been since she's had a full belly. The rescue said they weren't able to locate the momma.
I grabbed the box of treats, figured I would toss her some to chase / hunt. Help her come out of her shell a little more, help her associate me with good things, and help put a little more weight on her since she is skin and bones at the moment.
She wasn't so sure of the box;
She very much enjoyed the treats though!
So far she is staying away from my hand, so hopefully she'll be feeling a little better tomorrow and maybe I'll get some pets in. For now, I'm going to leave her alone so she can get adjusted / settled into her new home.
She is super adorable <3 She did drink some of her water too which means she got a bit of vitamins in her. We'll check in on her again tomorrow.
*Note- I will only be able to pet her if she chooses to be pet aka comes over to my hand for petting. I feel like that is more realistic / better role play.
