Flyball
Flyball trials run like they do in real life. Here's a run down of how things will work.

Want to use an actual Flyball jump instead of the hoop? Mandi made one a while back and it can be found HERE! Be sure to delete the underscore between flyball and jump to get it to show up in your toy closet.
TEAM Trials
A team is made up of 4 petz per team (Can be dogz, catz, wildz, or a mixture of all three) and is a timed event!
Pictures required;
1. Jump right - no toy
2. Jump left - with ball
This is how trials will be ran:
Trials will be ran every other week and I will be assigning which teams are playing who. Winners from previous teams will play each other in the next round and non-winners will play each other in the next round.
I will create a thread with;
Thread title = Team name VS Team name
So you'll know which thread to post in by finding your team's name
To enter;
You'll need to get your hoop, ball, timer, and auto save pics (or GIF or Video) set up and ready to go. Be sure your petz are either organized by name (I've added FB in front of my petz names so they are right next to each other), or your flyball team is the only petz in game. You don't want to be searching for them when you're being timed!
You'll start your timer and release your first pet (bring them out, quickly pick them up and set them down so they are no longer in their 'dazed' phase of saying hello. Hold up the hoop. Take a picture as they jump left to right (if you're entering with pictures). Set the tennis ball out and let them pick it up. Once they've picked it up, hold up the hoop and have them jump through right to left. Take a picture again as they jump back through the hoop with the ball (if entering with pictures).
As soon as they've jumped back through the hoop with the ball, put them away and bring out your next pet. Repeat until all 4 petz have gone.
Once your 4th pet has completed their jump with their ball, Stop your timer!
* The time you post will be the time that is used for judging, so be sure to stop your timer after your 4th pet has completed their jump with their ball! Don't worry about putting them away!
You'll then post your pictures, GIF, or Video along with your team's time in the thread.
*NOTE/Important! - Pictures and GIFs have been very finicky on the forum and keep breaking for some reason. Video is the preferred method to enter! You can still enter pictures or GIFs, but please keep them handy on your computer just in case they need to be re-uploaded or sent to me for judging.
Each team will have a week and a half to get their team's entries posted. If a team fails to get their entry posted by the deadline listed in the thread, I will post one of my backup team in their place.
Fastest team times will take 1st place earning your team an extra 5 points (per pet) and a blue ribbon.
Each team will also receive points based on their times, as listed HERE.
Here's an example entry / how it works: (Click on it to watch from begining)
*Notes - I did have to pause to get the tennis ball again because I had it ready then had to close the game and forgot the closet reset. I also had to pause because I thought Macaron was the last dog and then I seen I had one more to do. Ideally, there should be no pausing the timer! So again, be sure everything is all set up before you start.
In this example, our team took over 3 minutes to get everyone through which means our team would only get 1 point per pet based on time. If we had gone over 6 minutes our team would get 0 points.
*Tips-
- Be sure you've trained and work with the petz you plan to have on your team so they already know what to do. As you can see, my first dog Beau hasn't been worked with much and cost our team a lot of time.
- Be sure your petz are all familiar with the hoop and ball you're using. Macaron was nervous of the gold hoop at first because I've only worked with him with a different type of hoop. This also cost us time.
- Be sure all of your petz are fed and don't have fleas or anything before you start.
If you need a timer, just google 'Stop Watch' and there's a good one you can use.
In real life, teams / dogs earn points based on their times. So they won't be competing against other teams, just their own times as a team. I am adjusting the times for petz because it takes petz a little longer to do things than RL dogs. Here's how points will be received;
3 - 5 minutes = 1 Point per pet
2 - 3 minutes = 5 Points per pet
0 - 2 minutes - 25 Points per pet
*NOTE- If these times are still not super accurate, they will be adjusted accordingly.
North American Flyball Association-
Each time a team races in a NAFA sanctioned flyball tournament with a recorded time under 24 seconds, each dog racing in that heat will receive 25 points toward a flyball title; under 28 seconds each dog racing in that heat will receive 5 points; under 32 seconds each dog racing in that heat will receive 1 point.
Titles
20 Points - FbP (Flyball Pet)
100 points - FbPX (Flyball Pet Excellent)
500 Points - FbPCh (Flyball Pet Champion)
^This is the RL example for real dogs. Our titles are a little different since all petz are allowed.
Team Titles
* This title goes to the whole team / team name / owner of team.
50 First placements - FCh (Flyball Champions)

-More Tips-
* These tips were here from before I updated this thread to our new Flyball system. However, they are still relevant so I decided to keep them here!
1. Train / work with your pet on the tasks before the trial!
2. Be sure to hold the hoop still.
3. Reward your pet for jumping, picking up the ball, and jumping with ball in mouth with petting and treats.
4. If you're having trouble getting your pet to jump through the hoop, try giving a treat for any interaction with it even if it's just pawing at it. Then try again. This might take a few tries.
5. If your pet keeps dropping the ball before jumping, try petting them really quick right after they pick the ball up, then holding the hoop.
6. If your pet stands there forever after petting them, wanting more petting, work with them on this. Pet them, then call them to you. After 5 or so repetitions, they will get over being pet faster. Give them a treat when they come to you too.
7. Make sure you have Auto Save pictures on during the competition if entering with pictures!
Hope this helps!
