DG SumOly 2021 Hex Collab

SumOly Hexing Collaboration

Goal:
Create two masterpieces with our sumoly crew! A team effort between all three teams:)

Rules:
-You may only ADD to each hex, no deleting someone else's work (HOWEVER, COLOR will be changed - please do not make a specific color (unless it is a texture) your ONLY change
-You may sign up for EITHER cat or dog
-Please be timely - once you have the hex, work on it and pass it along- if you have it for an extended period of time (more than a couple days) you may be skipped - don't worry, we will come back to you, life happens!




How it works:
Each hex has a base and a starting word
You will add to the hex using the first word that POPS INTO YOUR HEAD
i.e. if the start word is sunshine, the first word in my head is "rays". I'm going to add something having to do with rays.
Exlpain your word and what you added, post progress pics and send to the next person!

I will be sending out a clean Honeybear file to the first person who signed up for catz. This HB file is a non-unibreed P4 compatible file from shaina @ kizmet and Shade that keeps the personality of the P5 Honeybear without making it a unibreed!
Please let me know if this is a problem. We can use the unibreed file instead of that's the case.

If someone else joins and picks a species, I'll give you the other one ;) but if not you might have to pick when it comes to your turn. This could be as simple as "the first person who finishes" or whatever criteria you want.

here's my version:


looking back I'm not 100% if I did this right, are we supposed to hex based on the first word, or on our new word (the first thing we think of)? I was thinking of sunset colors and gradients, but sunsets also make me think of clouds so I made the body thick and fluffy :)

I also took this chance to try out sexpotlida 's full outlines on these cute floppy ears! Whoever finishes this file remember to add the extra , 1, 1 to the end of the marked linez if it's been saved in PW between now and then (just like re-anchoring paintballs after a file is saved in PW)

here's the cat file so far!

i'll be honest, the first thing i did was modify the honey bear base, because as endearing as the honey bear is, like all ubi soft breeds, it feels kind of slapped together and like there wasn't enough thought or care put into it. so, i tried to preserve the appealing chunky fluffiness of the original while reducing the "just swallowed a whole watermelon" effect it had, mainly by making the body a little more proportional and adjusting the legs so they're actually proportional to the body size as well. i also fluffed up the tail a bit and made some minor adjustments to the face (i already liked that part fine, but i wanted to change it just a little, since as it was it's basically just the maine coon face with bigger cheeks and slightly smaller eyes). i really like how it turned out!

after that, the first thing i think of in relation to "sea foam" is bubbles, so i added some bubbles. i thought it'd be cute if the cat could generate bubbles where it stepped, so i added some around the feet, and then i put some around the tail. i was going to do some paint balls, too, but i figured i probably shouldn't add TOO much all at once, so there's room for other people to put things.

if we need to come up with another word, too, i suppose i'll go with "tide"!
