Meet Scurry & Skitter!
These two are really special and took a lot of work and learning to come into existence! I don't know if anyone's really interested in how these guys came about but the process was challenging and new to me so I thought I'd share a little about it.
I was making Dalmoshies and Mushies, which have paintballz directly 'translated' from dogz to catz by switching all the ball numbers... I had the bright idea to do the same with an entire breedfile and of course that was the Oshie breedfile... So I made a Scottie file with all the Oshie information in it 'translated' into dogz form.
What I didn't really think about is that there are quite a lot of structural differences between dogz and catz so it wasn't just a case of directly translating everything. I also had to make decisions about using some of the dogz balls differently and omitting others. I ended up having to rebuild the ears from scratch, for example, and give the file addballz cheeks - and also move things around quite a lot cause a direct translation doesn't actually look that much like a cat!!
I wish I'd kept progress pictures... It was really interesting to see what a 'direct translation' actually looks like!
Anyway, I wasn't really happy with it at first so I let it sit for a while. But recently I learned how to do a species-swap from K! What that involved was taking the actual Oshie file and making a few changes to it to fool the game into reading it as the Scottie and therefore a dog. When you do this, however, the game can't read the appearance information from the Oshie so you then have to paste in dogz LNZ, for which I used the Scottie at first... The result was a Scottie with a number of Oshie traits. Then all I needed to do was copy my Oshiedogs LNZ in, tweak it further so that it actually looked appealing to me because I still didn't like it at that point... And voila!
I learned so much in the process of creating these guys and they are so much fun to play with!
Ok! Enough rambling... Here are some pictures from the ongoing adventures of Scurry and Skitter!
