Day 9 Abbot and Pippa: 30 days old Ginger: 15 days old
Guess who got awarded his Foundation Baby Citizen!
Also, it's his and Pippa's birthdays! We're doing this sims-style, where we celebrate the life stage transitions. Happy adult birthdays, you two!
Have they suddenly gotten more mature and put their feuding behind them?
Nope!
I threw a party for them in the playpen with toys and music. To eat: cotton candy, popcorn, olives, and hot cocoa. Is that not a combination you've for your birthday parties?!
Pippa kept trying to catch the auto-rolling ball and missing it. This happened several times:
Until...
Good job!
Abbot also enjoys a rolly ball.
And showing off his frisbee-catching skills.
Ginger was also invited to the party:
I wasn't planning to naturally raise her, but I think I'm starting to get attached...
I may give it a few days and see how she fits in.
She and Pippa have not spent any time together, and I wanted to see how they get along. At first I was worried Pippa hated her, but it was fleeting. (I later took them both to the toy closet for some alone time, and they were cute with each other:
See?)
Back to the party:
Lol
As a reminder, I still think you're the worst.
Yeah, same to you, pal.
After the party was over, I wanted to spend some quality time with Pippa. She was pretty tired and hungry.
I made sure to put out a plate of leftovers for her, so that when she woke up, they'd be there.
Thanks, Mom!
Then, because I'm still convinced she and Abbot can be friends, I brought him back out.
Nope.
He's literally so sweet when he's by himself, but the moment you bring Pippa out, he's all Angry Eyes.
By himself, or with Ginger. They did my favorite thing, where they offered their paws to each other <3.
Ginger watched him while he ate, and then he was feeling calm enough to take a nap while she ate.
Then they BOTH TOOK NAPS and my heart ohmygosh <33
Final check:
Nope.
What do you all think? Do I stop trying to force a friendship here? Should Abbot and Ginger spend more time together? Should I raise Pippa separately? (or at least give them a little bit of space before trying again?)

I think that if you separate them for an day, they might realize they miss one another.

Huge congrats to Abbot for earning his Foundation Baby Citizen! It’s a shame he and Pippa still aren’t getting along … it’s just like that sometimes! Maybe raising them separately is the way forward? Or adorable Ginger can be mediator - she’s too cute!

^ Yeah, I think I am going to separate them, at least for the foreseeable future. It's sad because I raised them together, but maybe absence will make the heart grow fonder. Ginger gets along with both of them, so she can totally play mediator. That said, I am officially adopting her into the naturally raised crew. Day 10 Pippa and Abbot: 33 days old Ginger: 18 days old You know I had to check in on them one last time... And it was—you guessed it!—more of the same. So then I brought Ginger out, because today we're working on her Foundation Baby Citizen tasks. But first, some play: (Pippa was scared of some toy here. These were from a couple of real-life says ago, so I'm forgetting exactly why I took all these pictures XD) Why so sad, babe? This was the first day that I looked at Abbot and Pippa and thought to myself, "Yeah, you don't look like puppies anymore." Their eyes are starting to get wider apart, which I f eel like is one of the first signs of aging—besides obviously their bodies getting bigger. ANYWAY Pippa and Ginger did that cute thing where they toss a toy back and forth on their noses <3 And then she and Abbot stared at each other? And then wrestled... The wrong way? Is this a glitch? Well, they wrestled the right way after that. And somewhere between all of this, she finished her tasks! (The last one is an example of them offering their paws to each other, but I hope it doesn't come off as a non-neutral expression that disqualifies her.) And after all these, she was hungry, so we ate: I may have eaten half of it, but I'm still suspicious of it!
And she got treats for being such a good girl, of course!

It's been a few real-life days!Day 11 Pippa and Abbot: 36 days old Ginger: 21 days old As I suspected, Ginger's last "play nice with others" picture did not qualify as a "neutral" expression, so we had to try again.
So, after she and Abbot spent some time howling back and forth at each other...
They finally played nice!
I attempted to feed them together:
Ginger's first reaction to the food bowl is always to cower in fear.
She was only interested in eating out of Abbot's bowl.
(Ugh, Abbot, babe. Is it clear I have a favorite or is it clear?)
All right, so then they both went back in, and I brought Pippa out to try for her FBC.
Immediately Ginger tried to come back out and Pippa said, "Please, oh please, can my friend come out to play?"
And I said, No!
We got her submission!
Ginger did come out toward the end, and after training was finished, they were both famished.
I got Ginger to eat with another dog present!
Pics or it didn't happen.
"See you tomorrow, friend!"

Day 13 Pippa and Abbot: 42 days old Ginger: 27 days old
Everyone got some new threads today. And Ginger just loved showing hers off. Play time. Drink time. (I don't think I've ever seen this crew drink water before!) Food time. Have you seen a better photograph illustrating their personalities? I think not. Brush time. (Ginger says, Who, me?) Wrestle time. Today was the first day it occured to me that Abbot's eyes are a fluke. He does not carry a gene for 175 blue eyes. He has 172 and 173 eyes. I usually fix flukes on the pups that I breed, and I kinda wish I didn't know, because now it's going to bother me. Should I brex his eyes true?? Pippa got put away. Is that Abbot—expressing his sadness? Cuteness time. Nap time!
