One night I heard the doorbell ring, when I answered it there was no one at the door. Confused for a moment, I then looked down. There was a small basket sitting on the porch. A blanket in the basket was clearly covering something. It moved and I heard a strange noise, it must be something alive! Intrigued, I picked up a corner of the blanket and pulled it aside. I was shocked by what I had uncovered. It was a strange furry creature of some sort, but of I kind I had never seen before. And I've seen lots of creatures, being the owner of a kennel, cattery, rattery, stable, and well... you get the idea, I have lots of animals, even some very strange ones. But this one I could not identify. While I was pondering this, I noticed there was a note attached to the basket. Since the creature inside the basket appeared to be sleeping, I took the time to read the note. It said: “Dear owners of Black Mist Crittery, I found this strange creature in the woods. I have no idea what it is or where it came from. It doesn't seem dangerous, but it seems to be too young to be on it's own. And whatever it is, it's not from around here so it's not in it's natural environment. Those two things make me think it won't survive out here. But I can't take care of it myself. You have a reputation for having many strange creatures in your care, so I was hoping maybe you would take it in? Thanks.”That was kind of a strange note, why didn't the person just stick around and tell me all this? Why ring the door bell and leave? If they cared enough about this creature to bring it to me, why not wait around to make sure I really did take it in? This all made me very suspicious and unsure about taking this strange animal into my house. But while I was contemplating all this I looked down at the sleeping critter, and it lifted it's head and looked at me. At least I think it looked at me. It was awake in any case. And I suddenly had this very strange feeling. It's hard to describe, but I felt compelled to bring the creature into my house and take care of it. I picked up the basket and brought it in. I figured it must be hungry so I brought it into the kitchen to try to figure out what it might eat. I got a better look at it for the first time and I realized something strange. It had no eyes at all from what I could see! But it moved it's head around as if it was looking at it's new surroundings with curiosity. It had two round bulbs on top of it's head which kind of looked like ears, or eye stalks. But there were no eyes there, just multicolored dots in the fur. It had two long fangs or tusks of some sort sticking out of it's mouth. It had long back legs and short front legs, and a long furry tail. It had some interesting colors and wild patters in it's fur. It was actually quite neat looking I thought. It's anatomy was clearly very unusual, but from what I could tell, I'm pretty sure it was a male, so I started calling it a he. I offered him a variety of food, cat food, dog food, fresh vegetables, rodent food. He sniffed at all of these but didn't seem to want to eat any of it. Or, more like he didn't know how to eat it. I remembered something from the note and had an idea. I prepared a bottle of kitten formula. (Since I breed a lot of animals it's good to keep that stuff on hand just in case) The little creature was soon eagerly drinking it up. He made lots of weird noises the whole time this was going on. But the noises changed when he started nursing from the bottle of kitten formula. I had a sense that they were good, happy noises. I have no idea why I thought that. It was strange in the same way as when I suddenly decided to take this little guy in. He drank quite a lot, he must have been very hungry! After he had his fill he seemed to become very tired again. He yawned and I noticed that his tongue was bright pink with black markings of some kind, very strange! I fixed up the basket by adding a pillow to the bottom and wrapping the blanket around the edge like a nest. Then I settled the little critter back inside it. He seemed comfortable and went right to sleep. So it looks like I have a new pet to raise! I will try to update often as he grows and note any observations I can about him as I try to figure out what he's like and what kind of creature he might be! Stay turned! Note: This story-thingy I have started would not have been possible without [SKINSTEALER] . I have been inspired by the Lab Experiments, so I've decided to make my own. The pet shown here has been bred and hexed by me. The textures used are all made by [SKINSTEALER] available for download at their site Bad Death. Thanks Ringor for this awesome idea and all the awesome textures you made!

Thanks everyone! I'm so glad there is so much interest in this weird little critter. ^_^ And today, I have a new small update. The first couple of days were not very eventful, my new little pet spent most of his time either eating or sleeping. As newborn critters tend to do. So he must be very young indeed. I have no idea how big this guy is going to get, so I can't base his age on his size. But based on his behavior, I would say he couldn't have been more than a week old when he was left on my doorstep, maybe even less. He must have been orphaned somehow, poor thing. He definitely wouldn't have made it on his own.
I've found myself getting very attached to this strange creature quite fast. Even though his appearance on my doorstep is still very mysterious, I'm glad he's here, I'm really enjoying having him around. Although I didn't get much sleep the first few days he's been here. I have to wake up several times a night to feed him, as newborn baby animals need to feed often. But he seems to be bonding with me as well. He shows no fear when I approach and he always seems happy to spend some time with me, curled up in my lap and letting me pet him, before he falls back asleep. I've decided to name him Skittledy. It's based on one of the noises he makes that kinda sounds like that. I started saying that trying to mimic the noise he was making, and it stuck as his name. A weird name for a weird creature, it seems fitting. But today Skittledy is starting to move around a little more. He shows great curiosity about his surroundings. He wants to investigate everything. He's starting to walk around, sniff at things, and trying to chew on anything he can fit in his mouth. He also pushes toys around by nuzzling them with his head, and sometimes tries to stalk them a bit, sort of cat-like. I've realized that he just walks on his hind legs, his front legs are more like arms. The way he stands and walks reminds me a bit of a T-Rex. He sometimes bats at things with his front paws like a cat. He is curious about all the toys I set out for him to play with, but so far his favorite toy seems to be the milk bottle after he's done drinking from it, LOL! Silly boy! I am very curious how he navigates around without eyes. He seems to have no problem getting around (Aside from being clumsy and uncoordinated sometimes because he is so young still. He often trips over his own huge feet, and makes a surprised meow-like sound when he falls, it's very cute!) and he seems to know when objects are near him. But how can he do this without any way to see? Perhaps he emits high frequency sounds that I can't hear and listens to the sound waves the way bats and dolphins do, echolocation. Maybe the stalks on his head have something to do with this? Maybe they are just really big ears, but I haven't noticed any ear holes at all. But I have noticed that they seem to be very sensitive. Skittledy likes to be petted pretty much everywhere, but he twitches and moves away from all but the most lightest of touches on the round tops of his “ear stalks” or whatever they are. That makes me very curious about exactly what their function is. As Skittledy grows I will have to obverse him closely and see what I can learn about this intriguing creature. Keep an eye out for more updates!

Another update on the strange mysterious critter! I meant to make this update a few days ago, but I've got a lot of petz things going on right now, so I keep getting behind on things. But anyway, better late than never. Skittledy turned 12 on the brainslider today. He's definitely becoming much more active and independent. (I always assumed you couldn't keep a pet below the age of 12, the age they separate from their mother, once they were away from their mother, because it would cause errors or crash the game or maybe even corrupt the pet. But, with a backup of him just in case, I tried it out with Skittledy. Whenever I slid his age down to zero, it would automatically go to six, it wouldn't stay lower. But, I was able to start him at age six and nothing bad happened, he aged normally the next day. I did that to match with my story, having him be too young to be away from his mother. Now he's finally reached the age where he would normally separate from his mother, if he were not orphaned in some way. So anyway, back to the story)So based on that I decided it was time to try some solid food again, and see if he could eat some. But I have no idea what kind of things he should eat. I have no idea whether he is a carnivore, herbivore, or omnivore. Although he seemed to do very well on the kitten formula thus far, I really have no idea of his nutritional needs. But the only thing I could do was give it a try. I offered him a wide variety of foods as before. He turned his nose up at the fresh vegetables I offered. But he did seem to like the bird seed. He ate quite a bit of that. I softened up some cat kibble and offered that to him too, and that he loved as well and ate a lot of that. What an odd combination of food! He was thirsty after all that and he drank some water. He still seemed to want his bottle though. I figured gradually weaning him off it would be best. So I'll let him have a little of both for a few days. Slowly increasing the amount of solid food while decreasing the formula. What is very interesting though is that he has learned how to hold the bottle himself, it looks very cute! Later on I gave him some apple slices, and he liked those too. He may not like veggies that much, but he certainly likes fruit! After all that, Skittledy was very tired and took a nap. Sometimes it can be hard to tell when he's sleeping, since he has no eyes to close, LOL. But yes, he was asleep.
Now that he's getting bigger and more active I think it's about time I study him more and try to answer some of the questions about him, see what I can figure out about his physiology and origins. I am considering introducing him to some of my other petz now that he's getting older and bolder, but I'm just a little hesitation to do that since so much is unknown about Skittledy. I don't feel that he is dangerous, but I can't just go on my gut feelings now can I? I need more evidence of what this creature is like. So, we shall see... Stay tuned for more updates soon!

omg that's cool to know that you can keep them at age 6 and it ages up like normal and everything. I always assumed it would cause problems too. I also can't believe how much different Skittledy looks at 12! Those feet are getting HUGE hahaha. (I also adore his pawpads *cry* *cry* so cute!)

Yeah I know I was so surprised that you can age them normally below age 12. I never tried before because I was so sure it would cause problems, but with a backup copy of Skittledy safe and sound, I just decided to give it a try, and it worked! I adore his paw pads too! You can thank SkinStealer for the amazing texture that makes them stand out so bright pink with that scaly look to them. Of course all his textures are from SkinStealer. And I love his huge feet so much, hehe! Anyway, updates today! New Update
It happened again! This is the strangest thing. Yes, another strange creature showed up on my doorstep. But this time, there was no basket, no note, I just happened to open the door (I think I was planning on going on a late evening walk) and there was this tiny creature sitting there staring up at me. It squeaked and then ran into the house boldly, like it owned the place. I rushed after it, not knowing what it was, assuming it was wild, not something I would want in my house around my stuff and other petz. But when I caught up with it is was siting in the kitchen, staring up at the fridge expectantly, as if it knew there was food in there, and it expected to be fed. Maybe it was somebody's lost pet? It was so tiny though, how could it be so fearless in strange surroundings? I reached for it tentatively and it showed no sign of fear or aggression. In fact it leaned it's head toward me and nuzzled my hand affectionately. I figured it must belong to somebody, it must be lost. I'd call the local shelter and make posters to put up around my area. I figured I might as well feed it and let it stay the night. But what kind of creature was this? As with Skittledy, I could not recognize the species, even though I know of many strange creatures. It seemed to make rat-like sounds, although it was much more vocal than rats usually are. It squeaked and chittered almost constantly. Maybe it was asking for food. So I opened the fridge and got out several types of food to see what it might like to eat. But again, like Skittledy, this creature seemed uninterested in any of the food, so again I tried a bottle of formula. The bottle looked so big compared to this tiny creature! But still, it drank happily. But now that I had a chance to look very closely at the creature I noticed something very strange. He had no legs! He had feet alright, and moved about quite easily, but their were no legs connecting his feet to his body! His body simply floated above his feet. How was this possible? I was astonished and mystified. As with Skittledy again, there was much mystery and unanswered questions about this creature. But now that this creature was in my home, I felt compelled to try to figure them out! And as for Skittledy, he continues to grow more every day, and becomes more active and curious all the time. I still am very curious about how he navigates and perceives his world without eyes. So I conducted a little experiment. I held a treat out in front of Skittledy, and moved it back and forth in front of him. He followed it perfectly, and seemed to be looking at it with his “ear/eye stalks” How on earth does he do this? I still have much to learn about him. I thought it might help to learn things about him by finally introducing him to some of my other petz. It's kinda hard to tell what his feelings are toward other petz. Since he has no eyelids, from having no eyes of course, I can't tell if he is looking happy or angry at another pet. And the noises he makes are so unusual, it can be hard to tell which are good or bad noises. But in any case, I introduced Skittledy to some dogz first. First I tried Wish, who is usually a very friendly dog, but things didn't seem to go too well. Wish glared and growled at Skittledy. Then I tried Zachariah, another usually nice dog, but that didn't seem like a very good match either. So then I tried a cat, Mercedes. That went much better! Both Skittledy and Mercedes were doing backflips of joy at finding such an awesome friend. Then they started giving each other little lick-kisses, it was so sweet!
Then they settled down and went to sleep right next to each other. Awww!
Since Mercedes just had a terrible breakup with her boyfriend Decadence, my heart was warmed to see her so happy. And also I was delighted that Skittledy had found such a good friend, after being by himself for so long. But then, something shocking happened.... I can't believe it! My crazy strange creature has just impregnated my cat! LOL oh my, what will the kittens look like? This I did not expect at all! Well, at least the couple seems very happy. Check back in a couple of days to see what on earth the .... uh.... Kitten(s) look like!

Update!Happy News! Mercedes gave birth today, and despite my worries about what the weird DNA of whatever Skittledy is might do to her, her delivery was easy and normal with no complications. She only had one kitten.... if “kitten” is the right word... But what else would we call it? So let's just go with kitten for simplicity's sake. The kitten is a boy! And I have named him Nadir. He is quite unusual looking but somehow also quite cute. He's very small, so I can't see much detail of him quite yet, but I can make some initial observations. He has a long fuzzy tail like his dad, also enormous back feet like his dad. He seems to have inherited much of his shape from his father, but has a cute cat-like face like his mother, and much of his fur is grey, also like his mother. Although he has an interesting tripe of brown fur down his back, don't know where he inherited that from. He makes very strange noises like his father. Mercedes doesn't seemed bothered by the weirdness of her kitten, and has taken to motherhood quite well. Considering that she is not fully grown herself, that this is her first time as a mother, and that her baby is part who-knows-what, she is taking it all in stride very well. She is quite nurturing toward her baby I am happy to report. Skittledy hasn't met his progeny yet, I am giving mother and son time time to bond and adjust before seeing Skittledy's reaction to being a father, but that will happen soon. I hope all goes well. As for my other strange creature, the one that just showed up and ran into my house, the really small one with no legs that squeaks like a rat. It's been several days and no one has stepped forward to say he is their lost pet. I made calls to shelters and vets, put up 'found' posters all over, but nothing. Yet this creature seems so tame, he had to come from somewhere. Just one of the mysteries surrounding this little creature. And I find myself getting quite attached to him despite myself. I wasn't thinking about keeping him, because he is so tame and bold I figured he must belong to someone, no matter how strange he is, so I was just thinking of caring for him until that person showed up. But no one is showing up and more and more I keep thinking about keeping him. Despite how strange he is, I find him unbelievably cute, and I just couldn't resist any more.... I gave him a name. I am calling him Temble. You know what that means. Once you give an animal a name you are hopelessly attached to said animal, you are in big trouble if it turns out you have to give that animal up. Oh what have I set myself up for? Well anyway, Temble is quite the character, and despite his tameness he is very headstrong and hard to control. Well he is still very young and has not yet figured out who is in charge. So as far as he is concerned, Temble is in charge. So even though I was trying to keep him separate from my other petz until I was absolutely sure of what his fate would be, the curious Temble had other ideas. Temble found his way to Skittledy, I was very worried at first because Skittledy is much larger than the tiny Temble, but to my surprise and delight they seemed to get along very well. I was still apprehensive though when they pounced on each other and started wrestling. I was afraid Temble would get hurt. But surprisingly little Temble was able to hold his own, and Skittledy was gentle with him. Then they both did this singing thing together. Of course, since they are both make such very different weird noises, it wasn't very melodious singing, but it was still very cute to witness. Then I got this really funny picture of Skittledy sneaking up on Temble to pounce on him. So it seems that my two mysterious weird creatures have become best friends! Well that's a positive thing, and not a confusing riddle to solve for once, LOL But there is still more to learn about both of them... well now all three of them, since we have Nadir the kitten/weird thing hybrid as well. Keep watching for updates as Nadir grows and I get to find out what he is like. As well as my continued studies of Skittledy and Temble!
